FAQs

Are there free consultations?

We want your services to feel safe, accessible, and convenient for you. We offer both in-person sessions, as well as phone and video sessions.

Do you provide in-person services? Telehealth?

Yes! Please contact us to set up your free phone-call or in-person session so we can see if we would be a good match for each other.

Do you take insurance?

All of our providers can accept Medicaid (Beacon, Colorado Access, Colorado Community Health Alliance, CHP+, Rocky Mountain Health Plans & NorthEast Health Partners), Aetna, and Cigna. Dr. M accepts Blue Cross, Anthem, Poudre Valley School District Health Plans, New Belgium Blue Cross Plans, and United/Optum.

It is up to you if you want to use your insurance or waive your benefits. Some benefits of not using your insurance are: you do not have to have a diagnosis of a mental illness to see a therapist, you do not have a restriction on the number of sessions you can have, and you get to determine your treatment plan without an insurance company telling you what to work on in therapy.

What does an average session cost?

We strive to provide low cost services for those who do not have insurance coverage. Our counselor’s scales vary from $60-$150.

What if I can’t afford your fees?

Please contact us so we can work out a way for you to afford services. Your ability to pay for mental health treatment should never get in the way of you receiving quality services. Every clinician reserves at least one spot for Pro-Bono (free) sessions as well as sliding scale sessions. We also partner with the Alana Faith Chen Foundation, who helps sponsor therapy for LGBTQIA+ clients experiencing depression. The Rainbow Circles takes donations from private donors to help sponsor therapy as well. If you would like to help support The Rainbow Circles, click here to get involved

Do you provide affirmative care? Will affirmative care harm my child?

All of our care at TRC is affirmative. That means we will always see our clients for who they are, and affirm that through language and by creating a safe space for them to explore. As mentioned on our “Counseling Services” page, there is a lot of fear around the potential for therapy or support to turn someone gay or turn someone trans. This is false and harmful. Research shows that affirmative care can prevent young people in our lives from experiencing harm, and it shows them that you love them, and support them.

Do you provide support for parents?

We hope that you will see this as a collaborative experience. Bringing someone else into your child’s life takes strength, and we want you to know that we see that and understand that it’s a challenge. We hope that we can provide you with direct support in your parenting, and that soon we can offer groups for parents going through similar challenges with their children.

Do you currently have groups running?

TRC is in the process of developing and forming groups. We will keep our community updated here on the website and through our monthly newsletter. We hope to provide groups for kids, teens, adults and parents!
